Telecom to rebrand ShowmeTV due to name clashes

Move follows public concerns from Show Television Limited and Show Me Limited

Telecom will rename its ShowmeTV IPTV service following public concerns from Show Television Limited and Show Me Limited.

The television and movie streaming service will be rebranded later this year under an alternative name. Telecom did not provide a more specific time frame.

According to Telecom Digital Ventures broadband and digital media senior vice-president, Simon Hoegsbro, the telecommunications company engaged with Show Television and Show me once the concerns were raised.

He also said Telecom was aware of the two companies before the brand was unveiled on February 21, and followed the correct trademarking procedures across all relevant categories.

“While we believe we had the ability to continue with the ShowmeTV brand under the relevant trademark categories, we accept that Show Television and Show Me had some legitimate concerns given their own business,” Hoegsbro said.

“Taking everything into account, and given that we have not yet made any marketing investment in this brand, we didn’t think having a prolonged dispute about the name was in anyone’s interest."

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
