StorageCraft appoints Ingram Micro as second NZ distie

Ingram Micro will complement StorageCraft’s other New Zealand’s distributor, Soft Solutions.

StorageCraft, provider of disaster recovery solutions for virtual and physical servers, has appointed Ingram Micro to be its second broad-based distributor in New Zealand for the ShadowProtect family of backup, recovery, migration, replication and disaster recovery solutions.

Ingram Micro will complement StorageCraft’s other New Zealand’s distributor, Soft Solutions.

StorageCraft VP Asia Pacific Greg Wyman, said: “New Zealand is a key market for StorageCraft. We have a very large and strong partner community covering the North and South Islands, with more than 800 resellers and more than19,000 customers, ranging from small to medium-sized businesses through to enterprise.

“The appointment of Ingram Micro will reinforce our focus on promoting StorageCraft’s enterprise capabilities.”

Wyman added: “Our resellers have told us it is preferable for us to be better aligned with our partners and their suppliers, so that it is easier for them (StorageCraft resellers) to ‘single source’ a complete solution.

"By partnering with Ingram Micro, our resellers will be able to build a complete solution, including Microsoft or VMware, the server, the BDR (Backup Disaster Recovery) appliance, the networking and of course ShadowProtect, to deliver a one-stop shop for their backup and disaster recovery requirements.”

According to the company, one of the key goals moving forward with Ingram is to better educate its partners and customers. This would take the shape of certain focus areas including simplified Exchange 2013 migration, enterprise disaster recovery, physical-to-virtual and other related migrations, onsite to cloud or hosted data centre migrations, site-to-site replication and cloud-based disaster recovery. :

StorageCraft employed Paul Caldwell as country manager for New Zealand in October 2013. Supporting Caldwell are Karl Thomson as pre sales expert and Ben Rowland-North as account manager.

Technical support will continue to be delivered from StorageCraft’s regional headquarters in Sydney.

Sizing up the NZ security spectrum - Where's the channel sweet spot?

From new extortion schemes, outside threats and rising cyber attacks, the art of securing the enterprise has seldom been so complex or challenging. With distance no longer a viable defence, Kiwi businesses are fighting to stay ahead of the security curve. In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
