Health ministry to extend contract with Red Rock

The board has undertaken a program of work to eventually replace the system

UXC's Red Rock Consulting will have its contract with the Ministry of Health extended by three years, says the board director of National Health IT Board, Graeme Osborne.

Red Rock manages and maintains components of the Ministry of Health’s legacy claims and payments system, which handles $7 billion of payments annually to the health sector.

The board has undertaken a program of work to eventually replace the system. Stream One, which handles contracts, is progressing well and will go live later this year, Osborne says.

Stream Two is related to aged care services, and Stream Three processes involve the sectors that deal with payments in areas such as pharmaceutical and dental.

Red Rock is responsible for the legacy CCPS and Proclaim systems. Osborne says there are 59 transaction types in all.

With multiple agencies sharing data, it is a complex system overall. Validation of multiple invoices is said to be particularly difficult.
