Avnet appoints new NZ team

Paul Plester and Michael McDermott to spearhead NZ push

Avnet Technology Solutions has appointed a new team to drive their New Zealand business.

Paul Plester will head up the new team as country manager for New Zealand, with Michael McDermott in the role of solutions sales representative.

Plester joins Avnet with channel experience in both of a sales and distribution management.

During his almost 30 years in the IT industry he has guided the successful introduction and growth of many vendors into New Zealand.

More recently Plester has gained experience in the New Zealand IT services sector, sharpening his skills around mobility and managed services solutions.

McDermott has 23 years’ experience in the IT industry in Australia and New Zealand with an extensive background in sales planning, account management and execution.

He will manage Avnet’s current and prospective partner base within the region.

They will based in Auckland and will be focussed on driving value for Avnet’s New Zealand partner base.

Darren Adams, vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Australia and New Zealand said the appointments of Plester and McDermott provided the leadership and execution skills required to drive success for the New Zealand business.

“We see great potential for growth in New Zealand and look forward to working closely with our partners to deliver innovative solutions within the region,” he said.
