Tata launches video conferencing app Jamvee to exploit an explosion of demand in A/NZ

Indian communications heavyweight Tata has enlisted Arkadin to help launch its new video conferencing service to cater for an explosion of demand in A/NZ.

Arkadin is now an official APAC provider of Tata’s Jamvee conferencing – an on-demand service which enables anyone, anywhere, to access a video conference on any device by simply dialing in.

Jamvee is delivered through the world’s only fibre optic cable ring around the globe and partners 1600 service providers globally.

Tata senior vice president Anthony Bartolo said Jamvee would make video conferencing available to all busineses on an affordable pay-as-you-go basis – not just “mahogany row”.

“Jamvee is a great democratiser,” he said. “The market is huge and it’s really become quite explosive and we are moving from expertise in video conferencing and we are bringing it to the desktop and to the mobile device.”

He said there was a very large swing to personal “ad-hoc” conferencing which was driving demand in APAC.

“Our mission is to create the world’s richest open video ecosystem,” he said.

“The partnership with Arkadin enforces this strategy which will enable true unified communication for enterprises operating in today’s mobile, always-on and global environment.”

The Jamvee software application is compatible with Windows, OSX software-based devices, iPhone, iPad and Android devices and users are charged a flat rate per end-point, per minute.

Users of Lync and other video conferencing software, as well as those with access to standard video conferencing systems such as Telepresence, can also meet using Jamvee.

Up to 46 participants can join each conference at the touch of a button, bringing globally-dispersed teams closer together than ever before as the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) culture continues to gather pace.

Arkadin’s newly appointed business strategy leader for A/NZ, Richard Knott, said he was very much focused on selling the complete suite of telco services.

“Conferencing is the simplest part of it,” he said. “We stepped in to drive adoption and usage, and that’s where the revenue comes in.”
