Violin Memory appoints new vice-president

John Higgs to lead position in APAC region

Memory based storage systems provider, Violin Memory, has appointed John Higgs to the position of senior vice-president and general manager for Asia Pacific (APAC).

Prior to this role, Higgs was responsible for establishing and growing revenue and operations across APAC for application performance company, Riverbed Technologies. He will now lead sales and operations in APAC for Violin.

“The storage industry is on a tremendous growth path as global companies are rapidly integrating and benefiting from flash memory systems,” Higgs said. “Violin holds a strong presence in the region and my goal is to accelerate the new client base and cultivate current relationships in the APAC market.”

Higgs has more than three decades of experience in the networking industry, having worked exclusively in Asia for 27 years including positions in Japan and Singapore. This includes a stint with networking company, Cisco, where he built its sales and operations in South Asia.

“John’s proven sales and operations track record over the past 30 years makes him a strong asset to the Violin Memory team, as we continue to expand in the region,” Violin Memory CEO, Don Basile, said. “As companies continue to realise and understand the business opportunities presented when implementing flash storage we see a great opportunity to expand our presence in APAC.”

Founded in 2005, Violin is headquartered in Mountain View, California, and designs and manufactures flash-based storage systems designed to bring storage performance in line with high-speed applications, servers and networks.

Violin flash memory array leverage the inherent capabilities of flash memory and meet the requirements of business critical applications, virtualised environments and Big Data solutions in enterprise datacentres.
