Kaspersky Lab launches Anti-Virus and Internet Security 2014

Security vendor releases yearly refresh to its consumer product lines

Kaspersky has brought its Anti-Virus 2014 and Internet Security 2014 products to the Australian market.

Key additions to this year’s products include ZETA Shield technology for protection against zero-day, exploit and targeted attacks, as well as better usability and GUI performance overall.

Kaspersky Lab A/NZ technical manager, Sam Bryce-Johnson, said the products come with advanced Anti-Blocker technologies to deal with the latest developments in cyber crime.

“We’re determined to empower users against the surge in ransomware, such as the most recent ‘MoneyPak’ scams using Australian Federal Police messaging,” he said.

While users often had to rely on the Ctrl+Alt+Del key stroke to deal with a security issue, Bryce-Johnson said there is now a better way to solve security issues.

“Now with this simple technique, users are able to completely remove screen locker exploits and ensure that unsaved files opened at the time of attack are automatically retrieved,” he said.

Families first

Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 also comes with improved Parental Control features aimed at better supporting families.

With this feature, parents are able to set time restrictions on when and for how long children can be online, which applications their children can use, and information, such as home address and credit card details, are blocked from social networking sites and applications.

The products are available from Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, and can be purchased online from September 21.
