Measurement equipment vendor opens a new facility focused on spectroscopy instruments

Agilent Technologies has opened a new Spectroscopy Technology Centre in Mulgrave, Victoria.

Worth at $25 million, the centre will house a range of spectroscopy instruments, such as the Atomic absorption spectrometer, used in a variety of applications.

The will employ 250 staff to support the work of scientists and engineers in the analysis of semiconductors, industrial R&D, academic research and other fields.

Agilent’s chemical analysis group president, Mike McMullen, the open-plan areas at the facility been designed to foster interaction among project teams, as well as improve customer and field linkages.

“The Spectroscopy Technology Innovation Centre is Agilent’s next big leap in developing world-leading spectroscopy products,” he said

McMullen adds that the centre has the capability to improve time-to-market for new products.

“The development of this centre will ensure that spectroscopy innovation can continue to be led right here in Australia,” he said.
