IT and communications managed services provider, Gen-i, has inked a partnership with software license optimisation vendor, Flexera Software.

As per the deal, Gen-i will become a managed service provider for Flexera Software in New Zealand, and will bring Flexera Software’s FlexNet Manager Suite to the New Zealand market, embedded within Gen-i’s Licensing Assurance Services (LAS).

Gen-i chief operating officer, Jo Allison, said LAS is a major milestone in Gen-i’s efforts to help New Zealand businesses take advantage of new mobility and Cloud-based social applications.

She claimed that bringing together Flexera Software’s software license optimisation capabilities with Gen-i’s experienced licensing strategists will make Gen-i LAS the first licensing management service to give New Zealand businesses control over their software environment.

“The rapid surge in adoption of smartphones, tablets and Cloud applications has created a significant asset management challenge.

“There are few businesses that can confidently say they know what software is being used in their organisation, how it is being used and whether or not they are legally entitled to use it,” she said.

Allison also mentioned that the new partnership will enable the company to offer a new service that helps our clients avoid legal and financial exposure due to non-compliant software, make better software buying decisions and save money.
