UPDATED: Hitachi Data Systems hires Phillip Teague

Appointment made to strengthen A/NZ channel

Storage and virtualisation vendor and wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Hitachi Data Systems, has appointed Phillip Teague to the newly-created role of A/NZ industry and alliance solutions director.

Based in Sydney, Teague’s primary responsibilities for Hitachi Data Systems include conceptualising the company’s indirect go-to-market strategy in the region and increase its channel focus.

Teague said the company created this new role to continue its transformation to a market and customer led organisation with a partner centric model.

“The A/NZ Industry & Alliance Solutions team follows the example of other Asia-Pacific markets where this model has produced great partner results,” he said.

He will report directly to recently appointed A/NZ and Pacific Islands vice-president and country manager, Neil Evans.

Evans mentioned the appointment further strengthens the company’s existing channel focus in the region and identifies new partner opportunities with a portfolio of market driven solutions in Australia and Zealand.

“Phil will spearhead our continued commitment to and growth through the channel in A/NZ.

“Phil brings impressive experience in structuring and managing regional partner programs and will continue our transition from a traditional reseller model to a solutions driven approach that takes full advantage of vertical expertise and changing IT consumption patterns,” he said.

Teague claimed that with the company’s solutions-driven approach, it is further expanding its channel with partnerships that take full advantage of vertical expertise and changing IT consumption patterns with services delivered in the Cloud.

“Our focus will be on planning, training and enabling our partners. We also have plans to bolster our partnerships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), to help MSPs capitalise on the growing demand for Cloud computing.”

Teague has had more than 20 years’ of experience in the industry. He joins Hitachi Data Systems from RSA, the security division of EMC, where he served as A/NZ channel and alliances general manager. He previously held other senior channel roles with EMC A/NZ.

Prior to his tenure at EMC, he held IT management roles at BDO Synergy IT and Crone Associates, after starting his career as a datacentre manager at Architectonic.

“We will further invest in our channel to target industries such as health and life sciences, government, media and entertainment, and the resources sector with tailored solutions delivered through traditional licence as well as service models,” Teague claimed.
