Ingram Micro and Parallels hook-up in NZ

Will distribute Parallels' range of desktop virtualisation software

Leading distributor, Ingram Micro will distribute Parallels range of desktop virtualisation software in New Zealand.

Parallels is well-known amongst Mac users for its award-winning Parallels Desktop for Mac software which allows Mac users to run Windows applications alongside their Mac applications on OS X (Snow Leopard and later) without rebooting.

Ingram Micro general manager A/NZ, Apple Division, said Parallels desktop virtualisation products are a very strong addition to Ingram Micro’s Apple-compatible solutions.

“We’ve been working hard to create a really complete ecosystem of solutions for our Apple resellers, and pulling together absolute best-of-breed Apple compatible hardware and software products.

"As the leading solution for Mac users looking to run Windows programs, Parallels Desktop for Mac strongly complements the range of Apple compatible products we can offer to our resellers,” Eyerman said.

Channel Manager of Parallels for Australia and New Zealand, Kevin Greely, said, “Partnering with Ingram Micro enables Parallels to broaden our reach to Apple resellers in New Zealand and provide more enterprises, businesses and consumers with the benefits of our award-winning Parallels Desktop for Mac software. We look forward to working closely with Ingram to leverage growth opportunities in New Zealand.”

Parallels Desktop for Mac is available in a range of editions including the Switch to Mac edition, which allows Windows users to simply migrate Windows systems to Mac and includes more than two hours of video tutorials on Parallels Desktop and Mac OS X for users who are new to Mac.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price of Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac is $104.95; the Parallels Desktop 8 Switch to Mac Edition is $134.95; and the academic edition is $69.95.

The distribution agreement takes effect immediately, and Eyerman said Ingram Micro has stock available in its warehouse now.
