Ingram Micro just made life a little easier for its resellers with the launch of its new mobile ecommerce apps for iOS and Android devices.
The new apps, available now from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store, allow resellers to search and browse products from Ingram Micro’s e-commerce store, check pricing and availability, order products and track order shipments in real time.
Ingram Micro New Zealand managing director, Gary Bigwood, said this was a first for the New Zealand IT wholesale channel.
“For resellers to be able to check product pricing and availability and order products on the spot while they’re sitting in a meeting with a customer is a fantastic productivity enhancement,” Bigwood said in a statement, “and definitely a first for the New Zealand channel as far as we’re aware.”
“Resellers are busy people. Mobile access to our e-commerce services enables them to be more productive and respond more quickly to the needs of their customers.”
He said Ingram looked at the most common functions that resellers used online, and put that functionality into the apps.
There are already more features on the development roadmap and Ingram Micro will continue to enhance the functionality of the mobile applications over coming months, according to Bigwood. The team has been testing the new apps internally and with a number of resellers and feedback so far has been very enthusiastic.
Built-in time-saving features take advantage of the mobile platform. For example, scan a product barcode using a mobile device’s built-in camera, and the app will check Ingram Micro's stock information and take the user directly to the product details for that product.
Bigwood said resellers can customise the application to show Recommended Retail pricing. This allowed them to sit down and browse products with customers and show them product specifications without revealing dealer pricing.
Resellers can also tailor pricing by adding their margin in a management screen and then displaying the actual pricing for a specific end user.
