MACROMEDIA says there is nothing unusual about its three-month trial period for newly appointed distributor Express Data, despite signing a 12-month contract.
Reseller News reported on February 6 the appointment of ED as the country’s second Macromedia distributor and has since learnt from incumbent Renaissance of ED’s trial period. Macromedia channel director John Biviano says trial clauses are standard in new contracts.
He says this is vital when a vendor increases its number of dealers. “You don’t want to see trading of business [between distributors] if you’re changing your model to grow your business.”
Macromedia’s New Zealand sales growth target for the 12 months from April is “similar” to the Asia Pacific region’s figure, which Biviano says is 40%.
Renaissance brands manager Mark Dasent is surprised by the addition of ED. The company will review its position at the end of the trial period, he says. ED’s Paul Plester says he welcomes the competition.
