MYOB Group has boasted a good year in New Zealand with revenue up 40%, according to New Zealand general manager David Lowe.
Lowe credits part of this growth to expanding the Christchurch-based company’s network of resellers and consultants across the country. “We have developed our reseller channels in the past year. Previously, we concentrated on a comparatively narrow range of resellers,” he says.
“Over the past year, we expanded the range of resellers and consultants [partly as a result of the successful NZA Gold in March 2003 acquisition], to include a much more highly-skilled and expanded group of consultants, a wider and more active group of retailers and an expanded group of accountants who have access to special tools and technology that facilitates and improves the relationship between the business and their accountant.”
Lowe adds that the company is forecasting continued growth in New Zealand, with the launch of a new brand campaign and a range of new and upgraded products for its range. “The campaign launched recently included brand elements, design principles and information elements that are explicitly designed to help resellers promote their own business and leverage the brand work being implemented by MYOB,” he says.
“And we have introduced an expanded and brand-integrated set of POS materials to assist in particular the retail environment.”
In addition to this, MYOB has a number of cooperative and other specific reseller campaigns under way that are designed to help promote sell-through. “We anticipate introducing other initiatives during the year, as we do every year,” Lowe says.
“However, we do not pre-announce specifics — to do so would breach our company values and would damage our good reputation. We work closely with all resellers as campaigns and initiatives are developed.”
Meanwhile, MYOB has been signed up as the distributor of financial analysis tool ProfitCents, developed by US software and techno-logy company Sageworks. Profitcents will be customised to New Zealand conditions and integrated with MYOB’s accountant’s office. Lowe says the product will be delivered later this year, after local customisation.
MYOB Limited, owner of the MYOB Group with operations in Australia, New Zealand, the US, UK and Asia, generated revenue of $A90.1 million, with growth in sales contributing to a 25.4% increase in earnings.
