AROUND 10 resellers are signing up every month to be able to offer Microsoft’s Open Licence Value (OLV) programme to clients, on the back of a promotion that gives end-users cash rebates for buying software licences under the scheme.
Only resellers that register to become Microsoft Service Providers (MSPs) can offer OLV, under which end users can spread payment for their software licences over a three-year period. To encourage uptake of OLV, Microsoft launched a promotion in February that gives new OLV customers cash rebates of between $1500 and $60,000, which are intended to relieve the implementation cost of the software.
The promotion runs until the end of June and, says Microsoft New Zealand’s partner group manager Steve Haddock.
He says while the promotion gives customers an incentive to purchase new software now, resellers should not sway from extolling the basic value of the products. Haddock says there are now 160 MSAs in New Zealand.
