PARALLEL Solutions, the Australian company that took over Tech Pacific’s business for Hewlett-Packard spare parts in January, says sales are exceeding expectations.
The company is seeking another sales person for its two-person Christchurch office, which is managed by Darren Cowley, and there are still plans to have a North Island-based salesperson within three to six months.
Sydney-based director Chris Russell says New Zealand customers’ calls, which were handled by Australia, will be now be reverted to New Zealand.
“We are receiving about 300 calls a week [compared to 1500 from Australian customers].”
But Russell says the out of warranty spares market, in which Parallel Solutions competes with Visual Electronics, is greater than HP’s annual figure of $200,000 – or just under $17,000 a month – that the vendor stated to Reseller News in January.
“We’ve exceeded that amount. We believe the business is worth double that in the short term. Ben [Holmes] (fellow director) and I are extremely happy with the way New Zealand is going.” Parallel Solutions has added an online partner programme since it took on the New Zealand contract and hopes to gain quality accreditation (IS0 9001) for the Christchurch office by December, Russell says.
