CITRIX is shuffling its New Zealand operation following the departure this month of its Auckland-based channel salesperson Sean Williams.
New Zealand manager Andrew Cashmore will take over channel matters that affect the top tier resellers. Wellington-based salesperson Tim Dacombe-Bird will continue with enterprise sales and the company hopes to appoint someone by the end of June to an equivalent role in Auckland.
Systems engineer Barry Trotman completes the quartet of locals, who will be bolstered by the support of a Sydney-based engineer.
Cashmore says Williams left because he wanted a job in which he dealt with end-user customers.
“It’s given us an opportunity to think about what we want to be doing. He wanted to spend more time in front of the customer.
“It’s not an easy job looking after the channel. They’re complex beasts, and [the job is] not that thankful.”
Dacombe-Bird’s and the new person’s roles involve marketing to end users even though no product is sold directly to customers, Cashmore says.
Williams joined Citrix from Computer Associates last May. Before that, he and Cashmore worked together at The Microsource.
“I’m sorry to see him go,” Cashmore says.
He says resellers and customers can also look forward to announcements about a new channel programme and version three of Citrix’s MetaFrame suite of products.
Meanwhile, the vendor named Computerland as its New Zealand partner of the year for the second year in a row, at its annual partner conference in Sydney earlier this month. Axon won the award for best sales growth, which went to Datacom last year. And Gen-i took out the gong for the Victoria-Tasmania sales region. Last year Gen-i was top performer in New South Wales-Australian Capital Territory.
