EBOOK sales are the publishing industry's largest growing sector.
EBook sales for the first quarter 2004 were up 46 percent, and eBook revenues were up 28 percent compared to the same quarter in 2003, according to the Open eBook Forum.
A total of 421,955 eBooks were sold in Q1 2004. The same period in 2003, saw 288,440 sales. Q1 2004 saw US$3,233,220 in revenue compared to $2,516,469 in the same quarter last year.
Open eBook Forum President Steve Potash said: "This quarter eBooks have hit a new high mark for sales. eBooks represent the fastest growing segment of the publishing industry."
Mike Violano, Vice President and General Manager of eReader.com said: "In addition to terrific sales and traffic growth to our Web store, we are also seeing fast growth in new audience segments, especially to women customers."
