Aussie firm hunts for new dealers

AUSTRALIAN-based software companies continue to scour New Zealand for computer firms to sell and support their products here.

The latest is Canberra “capacity management” vendor Capacity Reporting Services.

Its search follows ones in the last three months by KVS for partners to sell its email management product and DYO Services for resellers of its internet-based data back-up and retrieval service.

Capacity Reporting Services CapTel product generates reports on computer systems’ health — be it storage space, processing power or network traffic.

Capacity Reporting Services founder and owner Adrian Heald says the product combines data from “proprietary packages” and presents them as charts, tables and text.

The speed of information is a far cry from the days when IT departments had to wait weeks to get the same information.

But he warns that his company’s product is specialised.

“It’s suited to medium to large organisations — any organisation that spends more than $2 million a year on their IT.

“It’s the niche capacity management organisations that I’m interested in becoming a reseller. If I can find a reseller in New Zealand, that would be ideal.”

Reseller margin is 50% of the sale price provided partners sell the product for at least $A11,000.

Heald, who has sold CapTel to the Australian Federal Police and the Department of Education, Science and Training, is seeking help from his country’s trade commission to find partners, of which he has one each in Melbourne, Canada and The Netherlands.
