Cisco programme targets SMBs

CISCO New Zealand is aggressively recruiting resellers as it launches its Simple Cisco Engage programme. The vendor is also creating a new Australia-based division to ensure it has a dedicated team to make the programme work.

The networking vendor launched a similar initiative last year — Simply Cisco — however, channel marketing manager Suzanne Hansen says the new programme is different to the original one.

At the time of the Simply Cisco launch, Hansen said the campaign was aimed at Cisco’s Premier or second tier partners and included ready-made presentations, sales tips, marketing material and website links.

“Simply Cisco was brought out ... 18 months ago, but it turned into a brochure,” Hansen says. “But we liked the branding and the messaging

out of that because it’s recognisable and now the [new] programme is under that.”

Simply Cisco Engage has added in components such as pricing, the Linksys product line and SMB financing.

To reassure the channel that the new programme really is new, Cisco Australia is appointing a team to work in the SMB Line of Business division committed to the SMB sector and the programme.

“There’s a new organisation for Cisco in ANZ that will be focusing 100% on this area — the MD in Australia will be appointing a SMB manager. People will be reporting to this person to keep up the programmes, marketing and everything around it. They will be based in Sydney.”

Hansen adds that a key part of the programme is to roll out “meaningful programmes ... One of the programmes we rolled out today is channel rewards — the company earns dollars on everything they sell off the Cisco price list and it gets [used as] rebates for training.”

Once the first phase of the campaign is over, recruiting resellers, the second phase will be making Cisco more visible.

She adds that Cisco’s distributors Tech Pacific and Express Data will play a big role in the campaign.
