Muller takes over at IDC

IDC New Zealand head Dinesh Kumar leaves the company today after five years in charge.

Kumar is stepping down after 10 years at IDC with a career shift in mind. He will be succeeded by Graeme Muller, who joined the company last year as software and services research manager after completing an MBA in London.

“I wanted to do something different and take a break for three or four months,” says Kumar.

“I will use the time to learn to play golf and to assess my career opportunities.”

When Kumar joined IDC a decade ago the company had two employees and provided research services down only two lines: printers and PCs. Staff now total eight, while the products and services offerings have grown to include software, services, telecommunications, events and custom consulting.

Muller says he will focus on sustaining the company’s steady growth and will spend much of his time building on the relationships fostered by Kumar.
