NZ wait for Microsoft government portal

NEW Zealand looks set for a wait before a Microsoft initiative to help the channel win government contracts arrives on our shores.

Microsoft in Europe launched its free Public Sector Partner marketplace at Tech Ed Europe in July, while Microsoft Australia plans to roll out its version within three to four months time. However, in New Zealand, Microsoft says it will await an assessment of the Australian system and it probably won’t arrive here “until at least next year”.

The online marketplace details relevant information on public sector IT systems, plus systems and services from VARs, systems integrators, ISVs, trainers and consultants.

“We have no immediate plans at this stage to replicate it here,” says Microsoft NZ partner group manager Steve Haddock, in a statement.
