StorageTek connects with Cisco

Adding another string to its bow, StorageTek has signed Cisco to its TekSelect partner programme.

StorageTek is reselling Cisco’s family of MDS 9000 Multilayer Intelligent SAN switches as part of its portfolio of storage networking services.

The TekSelect programme, introduced last year, provides a single point of contact for customer sales and service of information lifecycle management. Other partners include Brocade, McData and Veritas.

StorageTek MD for Australia and New Zealand Philip Belcher says the alliance will help customers improve primary storage productivity and simplify backup and recovery.

“This is positive as StorageTek will be a point of access for Cisco storage products and we’ll be working closely with them,” he says.

The MDS 9000 is a range of SAN switches and directors suitable for all storage networks and is compatible with StorageTek’s enterprise storage systems.

Belcher says that while Cisco has an extremely broad distribution channel the MDS 9000 range is aimed specifically at storage.

Sizing up the NZ security spectrum - Where's the channel sweet spot?

From new extortion schemes, outside threats and rising cyber attacks, the art of securing the enterprise has seldom been so complex or challenging. With distance no longer a viable defence, Kiwi businesses are fighting to stay ahead of the security curve. In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
