DIGITAL projector company InFocus has opened an Australian web store, giving customers direct access to its products.

InFocus country manager Australia and New Zealand Lee Whincup says the store is about simplicity for customers and making products available when and where they want to buy them.

The entire product range is available online including accessories such as cables and wireless adapters.

New Zealand customers are currently unable to purchase from the store but InFocus says it is working on setting up the logistics to deliver to New Zealand.

Tech Pacific InFocus brand manager Chris Thorley says the company is still working with InFocus on New Zealand distribution.

“We don’t know how it’ll affect us — it could still turn out that they ship out of Australia,” he says.

Thorley says some resellers will be affected but believes they can still compete with the web store.

“From what I understand, InFocus isn’t going to directly follow the US model, which has very aggressive pricing. The Australian store has passive pricing which means resellers can still compete.”

Ascent Technology sales manager Giri Dinamani doubts the web store will have a major impact on the company’s business. “As a rule, we don’t like it when this happens, but I don’t think this affects us a great deal. InFocus isn’t the only projector range we stock and it just means we wouldn’t make the effort to push their products,” he says. All Australian InFocus authorised resellers are listed on the site for customers requiring professional advice and installation.
