Ugly duckling finalists announced

THREE local companies are in the running to receive a $350,000 silicon augmentation.

New Zealand’s first Technology Makeover competition, sponsored by Microsoft and HP, received over 100 entries.

Formway Furniture, Heller Tasty and NZ Pharmaceuticals have made it through to the next round of competition that involves $10,000 worth of Microsoft consulting services for each company and its technology partner.

NZ Pharmaceuticals will be working with Computerland Palmerston North, while Intergen has a busy time ahead with the other two finalists.

A judging panel will announce the winner of the software, consulting and hardware package on May 15.

Anne Taylor, product manager Microsoft Office Systems, has overseen the project and says it has been very successful.

“We wanted to create some excitement. The objective is to use technology to improve business,” she says.

Once the winner is announced its partner will have eight weeks to carry out the implementation.
