Wooing small business

STORAGE players Quantum and Veritas have joined forces to bring a one-box product to market.

The OEM partnership sees all Quantum standalone tape drives and autoloaders bundled with Veritas Backup Exec QuickStart and is aimed directly at the small to medium enterprise sector.

Craig Tamlin, Quantum country manager ANZ, says the bundle is designed for customers that don’t have complex requirements. “It’s a very simple configuration so the average small business user can install it,” he says.

The companies are providing an introductory backup product for small or home office users that can be upgraded through resellers.

Tamlin says channel partners have the opportunity to upgrade or migrate customers to tape automation systems and sell additional tape media, service and support.

“The main benefit for resellers is that they can sell one solution and have complete confidence in the bundle.”

Quantum works with distributors Express Data and Datastor and Tamlin says he’s very pleased with the strength of the New Zealand channel. “Datastor has really helped us extend our focus and I’m very proud of the fact that we’re establishing such a strong channel.”
