THIRD-party support services for JD Edwards and Peoplesoft customers will soon be available here, provided through TommorwNow, a company recently acquired by SAP.
Geraldine McBride, SAP Australia and New Zealand CEO and managing director, says Oracle’s takeover of JD Edwards and Peoplesoft caused considerable uncertainty in the market - to which SAP has reacted for the benefit of its customers.
According to McBride there is no obligation for TomorrowNow customers to migrate to SAP.
“Customers have a choice, they can retain their existing ERP systems and innovate with the cost savings from a 50% reduction in support services through TomorrowNow or they can migrate with the SAP Safe Passage programme,” she says.
TomorrowNow offers vendor maintenance and support for up to ten years and will operate three call centres globally, including Singapore.
Ian Black, SAP New Zealand country manager, says TomorrowNow is still in launch mode but believes the market should know about it.
“It’s important that it’s known the service isn’t just for large companies. There has been a lot of interest from small customers and New Zealand has quite a number of companies on JD Edwards at the moment,” he says.
Black says the programme has already been expanded to SAP’s channel network and points out that resellers can sell the support service and upgrades.
Tim Woolfield, managing director Realtech, sees the service offering as a good opportunity that may take some time to be realised.
“You don’t necessarily get traction on day one but we have done some planning with SAP so it’s a matter of our efforts coming to fruition,” he says.
While TomorrowNow is looking to recruit between 15 and 45 staff to service Asia-Pacific, Black says no ground staff have been appointed here as yet.
