Vendors agree: event was a hit

GADGETS and sweets abounded as vendors and Ingram product managers attempted to lure resellers into their lairs, some even offered back massages to stressed-out punters.

All the vendors Reseller News spoke to were delighted with the event.

Vaughan Nankivell, Kingston product manager, says Showcase was a great opportunity to catch up with the channel and show it the new Ingram Micro.

“A lot of people made the effort to come from Rotorua, Taupo and Hamilton which really impressed me,” he says.

Nankivell adds that he noticed a large number of corporate visitors at the show, escorted by their resellers.

For Georg Schlueter, Tandberg Data’s business development manager, the chance to meet a large chunk of the New Zealand channel was invaluable.

Schlueter, based in Sydney, says that although he makes regular trips to New Zealand, Showcase is a great event for meeting a large number of resellers.

Matt Huntington, Lenovo product manager, says he was amazed with the Auckland turnout.

“This is my first showcase and for Lenovo it was the perfect chance to show the new company off. July was a great month for us and Showcase was an opportunity to get in front of the channel and pass that feeling on,” he says.

Huntington describes the feedback he received as overwhelmingly positive.

“Most of the people I spoke to were resellers and it was good to give them the full picture of what’s happening with Lenovo’s products, which I think they’ve been waiting for.”

Natasha McLean, business partner manager at Symantec New Zealand, says the quality and number of visitors to this year’s Showcase seemed higher than in previous years.

“We are really pleased with the opportunities we got out of the event,” she says.

Although the Symantec range is not easy to exhibit, McLean says the vendor’s stand was visited by a good number of resellers, including some who brought along customers.
