AMERICAN Power Conversion (APC) has expanded its New Zealand operation to include a flash new demonstration centre at its Auckland office.
The centre focuses on the company’s InfraStruXure network-critical physical infrastructure product, which combines power, cooling, rack, management and services for server rooms and data centres into a single offering.
The demonstration site enables partners and customers to view the techno-logy and is one of three such centres opened this year in the region.
New centres have also been opened in Canberra and Brisbane, in addition to sites already operating at APC’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Sydney and its Melbourne office. Being able to show the technology to customers is a benefit to APC resellers, says Roman Paljk of Auckland systems integrator Financial Systems.“With a product like InfraStruXure it is helpful if customers can have a look at it,” says Paljk.
The demonstration centre comprises a complete InfraStruXure setup.
Establishing a centre in New Zealand demonstrates APC’s commitment to the country, says Paljk.
“If APC did not have the centre here, customers could think the InfraStruXure products are not suitable for the New Zealand market,” he says.
Leanne Cunnold, APC’s Sydney-based South Asia general manager says the centre forms part of the company’s plan to expand into New Zealand.
“New Zealand is a key market and we have decided to invest here,” she says.
In the past year, APC has moved to a new, larger office in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour precinct and has increased staff numbers by between 40 to 50%, but Cunnold will not reveal how many people it employs in the country.
Meanwhile, Paljk says with more APC people on the ground, resellers are better supported, as they can now take APC staff to meet with customers.
“Customers are impressed if you can bring someone from the vendor out to them,” he says.
