Simpl partners with Westland

ALREADY enjoying international success, a new venture by one of the minds behind Mail Marshal has signed its first local reseller.

Auckland-based services company Simpl is reselling project management templates developed by Jason Westland, a founder of Designer Technology, which developed Mail Marshal before selling it to NetIQ in 2002.

Westland left Designer Techno-logy last year to establish Method 123, which markets the project management methodology.

Speaking from France, Westland says the company is enjoying a surge in sales around the world since launching its offerings on the internet and setting up an affiliate programme, through which other companies can resell the products online.

“Since April our sales have increased by 500%. Around 45,000 people around the world are using the products,” he says.

The partnership with Simpl brings specialist support for the product in New Zealand, says Westland.

“Simpl is the best project management consulting company in New Zealand,” he says.

Simpl will provide expert local knowledge to allow customisation of the Method 123 templates, says market development director Mike Ogle.

“The templates are in line with the best project management methodology and are a great place to start to assist customers to standardise their project management approach,” he says.

The Method 123 templates cover the entire project lifecycle, providing tools to initiate, plan, execute and close projects successfully, says Ogle.

Westland will not appoint any more resellers in New Zealand until a new, boxed version of the product is released in November.

“Right now we are focused on building the product and then we will develop a worldwide distribution channel like we did for Marshal,” says Westland.

Westland runs the company online and is currently based in Europe, but has three employees in New Zealand.

Once the new software is released, he plans to return to New Zealand to find partners here.

He will split his time between the US, the biggest potential market for the range; the UK, where he has family commitments and New Zealand.
