Philips shifts after three decades

AFTER 31 years in its Mt Albert head office, Philips kicked this week off at a new home in Mairangi Bay, north of Auckland.

The company moved into a brand new building at Antares Place last Friday and was fully operational at the new site on Monday.

The move does not affect any stock movements however, as its warehouse remains in Penrose.

David Stanaway, project manager for the move, says after over three decades at the Mt Albert site, the shift was needed to keep up with the changing nature of the company’s business.

“We needed a purpose-built facility,” he says.

“The new building has an open-plan design allowing our different business units to work together as one business. This will create synergies between the different units.”

Product ranges managed by different divisions within the company include consumer electronics, medical supplies, lighting and semiconductors.

The shift has also enabled Philips to move to a new and enhanced IT and communications infrastructure, says Stanaway. While the company’s main phone number and direct line numbers have changed, its 0800 numbers and postal address remain the same.
