A NEW startup is bringing what it claims is disruptive emerging technology into the country and is looking for resellers.
Recover IT holds the agency for the Attix5 range of backup and recovery software.
According to Recover IT director Peter Innes, the range is ideal for IT providers who want to offer managed backup and recovery services.
He says that the technology was built as a service — it can be centrally managed and uses an organisation’s existing infrastructure.
“The product is exciting and innovative and on the cutting edge of emerging technology,” he says.
“It enables organisations to have fully automated and policy-driven backup and support services.”
As an online backup service the Attix5 technology gives resellers the opportunity to protect their existing customers, increase revenues generated from each user and leverage underused bandwidth in their clients’ network, he adds.
Outsourcing their backup tasks removes the complexity and risk of companies doing this themselves, allowing them to focus on their core business, says Innes, adding most small companies do not have proper backup and recovery products or policies in place.
This is a value-added service IT providers can offer, he says.
Recover IT will help resellers build managed services businesses based on the software, and is also setting up a channel model for the range.
It will still deal directly with selected customers however, while a channel is being established.
“Our reseller model will evolve over time,” says Innes.
Attix5 is based in the UK, but originated in South Africa, where Innes worked for the company for several years.
Through Recover IT support for the range is available in the country for the first time, he says.
“We can provide sales and marketing and technical support in New Zealand, which is backed up with global support structure.”
