AS of today Ingram Micro is giving its resellers the keys to a powerful marketing tool — for free.
Intersell, an internet marketing company, has signed an exclusive agreement with Ingram Micro to give resellers access to its library of vendor campaigns.
Resellers with a Techlink login can enter the Intersell service which can be used to create a customised marketing and sales campaign to send out via fax, colour PDF or HTML.
Wayne Troy, Intersell general manager, says around 20 vendors will be active within the next few weeks, including Toshiba, D-Link and Brother.
“Techlink is the well where all resellers come to drink and now they can create their own campaign or take an existing vendor promotion and use it for free,” he says.
Intersell launched into the Australian market last year with huge success, according to Troy, who adds that last month alone 565 campaigns were built from a base of 2,700 registered resellers.
Scott Cowen, Ingram Micro marketing manager, predicts New Zealand will have 1,000 resellers by Christmas.
“This is quite a coup for us. It’s always been expensive to target small to medium businesses and Intersell allows resellers to customise a lot of vendor material to that market,” he says.
On the other side of the equation, vendors who pay a monthly fee to Intersell can see the effectiveness of their promotions.
It is a compulsory requirement of the service that resellers are asked to rate the vendor campaigns, a factor that Cowen says is extremely powerful for the channel.
“We wanted resellers to have the ability to voice their opinions on the material so the marketing people can take that onboard.”
Troy says the next stage of development is packaging the analytical data for use by the vendors, although they will not receive information on individual resellers.
“It allows vendors to test and measure their strategies by giving them precise data. The wealth of information is huge.”
