Tandberg extends coverage with third distributor

BACKUP storage specialist Tandberg Data has appointed Westan as its third distributor in order to widen its market coverage.

Alongside Ingram Micro and T Data, Westan will focus on Tandberg’s linear tape open (LTO) storage loader products.

Georg Schlueter, business development manager Australia New Zealand, believes the market is big enough to support three distributors.

“Tandberg wants to become the dominant LTO player in the region and Westan will help drive that to the small to medium enterprise market,” he says.

Schlueter says business picked up considerably following Ingram Micro’s Showcase in July with a significant number of sales on the back of the roadshow.

He is also delighted with the success of Tandberg’s channel programme with around 16 partners already signed.

“I’m confident I can sign another 30 partners by the end of the year. Tandberg has a new product about to be released that will target the midrange and enterprise markets so I hope to get some of the first-tier resellers onboard.”

In addition Schlueter has extended Tandberg’s promotion — a free media and cleaning cartridge with every purchase of a Storageloader LT02 — until December. He says this has a cash value of $600.
