Toshiba launched a new flagship business notebook, and refreshed four other models last week.
The Tecra S3 is designed to be the most durable and secure mobile business PC featuring the latest innovations in notebook security and protection, the company says.
The machine contains Toshiba’s suite of EasyGuard security tools, including an integrated software RAID (redundant array of independent disks), which automatically duplicates information on the primary hard drive to the secondary hard drive preventing the accidental loss of data.
Other protection tools include a fingerprint reader, a three-axis motion sensor for hard drive protection, spill-resistant keyboard, anti-theft timer and extensive cushioning to protect the most crucial components of the machine.
The Tecra S3 features a 2.0GHz Intel Pentium M 760 processor, two times 512MB DDR RAM, 100GB SATA hard drive, DVD SuperMulti double-layer drive, Nvidia GeForceFX Go 6600 graphics card and 15 -inch TFT display. It retails for $5,091.
In addition, Toshiba has refreshed the Tecra A4 and M3, Portege M200 and Satellite M60.
The processing power of the A4 desktop replacement machine has been upgraded to a 2.0GHz Pentium M 760 processor, while four M3 models now feature a TPM (trusted platform module) encryption chip. One model, the PTM30A-17N002, now has a privacy screen, which prevents passers-by viewing information on display.
The M200 tablet PC has a new wide-view screen to improve users’ ability to view the screen at any angle, while the top-of-the-line Satellite M60 multimedia machine now sports a 1.86GHz Pentium M 750 processor.
