Acer woos resellers with car

ONE extremely fortunate reseller will be revving it up this Christmas as a result of a joint Ingram Micro/Acer promotion.

The winner, drawn later this month, will receive a new VW Polo 1.4, valued at either $23,990 (manual) or $25,990 (automatic).

Launched in July, the campaign awarded automatic entry into the draw, based on product sales. For example, the sale of a desktop received one entry while a server or notebook received two.

Barbara Hollyman, Acer product manager at Ingram Micro, says the promotion has been great for getting Acer sales through her company. “It’s hard to measure the response because there’s such a large number of resellers,” she says. Unlike other promotions where resellers have had the opportunity to win the keys to a car for a specified time period, Hollyman says the winner gets to keep the car. “The car is very definitely real. In fact, it has already been purchased and remains undriven at the car dealership until we can hand it over to the winner.”
