CA enters SME arena

THE release of Computer Associates’ (CA) Protection Suites sees the company fully focused on the small to medium enterprise (SME) market.

Protection Suites has six integrated suites with a web-based management console and a desktop dashboard.

The portfolio includes desktop, server and business protection suites as well as offerings for Microsoft small and midsize servers.

George Hladilo, CA New Zealand channel manager, says the product set gives resellers something unique to take to their

customers.

“CA hasn’t been playing in the SME space and resellers should find Protection Suites a really compelling offer,” he says.

Hladilo says the graphical dashboard simplifies all antivirus, antispyware, data backup and migration operations.

A single installation process eases setup and configuration while automating compliance with backup policies.

In addition, says Hladilo, Protection Suites makes many of the IT challenges faced by SMEs go away.

Dave Rosenberg, Datastor sales and marketing manager, says CA’s offering provides great security and backup for SMEs and he believes the integrated package will appeal to resellers.

Meanwhile, CA has acquired enterprise message management and archiving software company ILumin.

Hladilo says the acquired software will become part of CA’s Brightstor product and will be made available through the channel as soon as possible.
