ALTHOUGH it’s not a name that trips easily off the tongue, Embarcadero is still managing to make waves in the New Zealand market.
The specialist in data management and security has formalised its relationship with local distributor Soft Solutions.
Rani Urbas, Asia-Pacific senior director, says that while her company has a great reputation in the US it’s now time to concentrate on New Zealand.
“Until now we’ve had a couple of low-key resellers in New Zealand but the company hasn’t devoted much focus on the region,” she says.
Urbas plans to work closely with Soft Solutions to identify which products will suit the market.
“At this stage we don’t have a good estimate on what the sales targets will be, but Soft Solutions seems to really understand its resellers.”
Rochelle Young, Soft Solutions channel account manager, says so far her company has completed 30 Embarcadero transactions — all based on customer demand.
“It’s all been unsolicited business. Now we want to work with Embarcadero to let resellers know it’s available,” she says.
But Soft Solutions deals with over 800 resellers, Young says the market for Embarcadero may not be huge.
“It could be that only two to three resellers take the products on, but they’ll be selling into the enterprise market.”
Urbas says her company offers a broad range of solutions to simplify data management with products for availability, security and architecture.
“It doesn’t matter what size the business is — everyone needs a database manager. Since it’s impossible to go native Embarcadero gives customers cross-platform tools with one dashboard.” Some of the company’s products include ER/Studion and Rapid SQL and last month it completed the acquisition of data security company Ambeo.
