SYSTEMS integration giant Unisys has signed a global agreement with Microsoft to resell its Axapta management suite.
Regionally, Australia will beat New Zealand to market with the product. Glen Bittle, Unisys northern region manager and commercial partner, admits New Zealand won’t be ready until next year. “I haven’t got a team on the ground yet but I am looking at how it will be structured. We need to consider where Unisys is strong in New Zealand and what solutions will be relevant in this market,” he says.
His company has already developed vertical solutions for the automotive, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain but Bittle says those products won’t necessarily suit this market.
“We definitely won’t be taking on automotive. However Unisys has a strong presence in the public sector so a solution might yet be developed for that area.”
Bittle describes New Zealand as fundamentally a tier-two market but believes Axapta fits the market. “It might be that the idea for a solution comes from New Zealand but we might have to work on the research and development in Australia.”
He points out Unisys NZ has been extremely successful in rolling out initiatives and is positive about New Zealand’s scope for innovation.
“New Zealand clients are at the forefront of what is going on and, unlike other countries, customers are happy to share their ideas.”
