It’s been years in the making, but Equinox has finally become the first IBM premier partner in the country specialising in its Rational software development suite.
The company’s Nigel Walker says the Wellington-based firm has long had the necessary skills required for the certification, but it was just waiting for the recently introduced exams that would put an official stamp on its expertise.
“We have put a lot of effort into Rational, especially the processes. It has taken a little while to get formal recognition of our capabilities and we have been working with IBM for the whole year to achieve this,” he says.
IBM introduced a new certification programme for its software partners in July. Over 20 engineers and three sales consultants from Equinox have since passed the exams required for the Rational certification.
Being a premier partner highlights the company’s commitment to and understanding of the Rational product set, and gives it access to more technical and marketing resources from IBM, says Walker.
“We can promote that we have a substantial vendor behind us and get IBM’s involvement in the sales process when needed,” he says.
Raymond Skoglund, IBM’s software channel manager confirms Equinox is IBM’s only premier partner in New Zealand solely focused on the Rational suite.
He says the company demonstrated a high level of skill and understanding in the product and how it addresses the business issues of customers.
