OFFICE automation icon Hasler has become Pitney Bowes after being bought last month.
Hasler, a privately owned New Zealand company, has acted as Pitney Bowes’s New Zealand dealer since 2002.
Graeme Markwick, general manager, says it’s business as usual and no jobs have been affected.
“Apart from a name change, all day-to-day business remains unchanged,” he says.
One of the biggest problems facing the rebranded company is future of the phenomenally successful “It’s a lot less hassle with Hasler” jingle.
“That branding has worked brilliantly. We had UK executives from Pitney Bowes come over recently and they were amazed that the customs officers recognised the name — that’s how strong it is.”
Markwick says his company is investigating trademarking the slogan and is currently working on creating a new jingle.
“It’s still a lot less hassle.”
Since October the company has been busy working with New Zealand Post to phase in the new franking standard.
“There will be a significant amount of work with that migration as the demands on infrastructure are huge. The franking machine of old will become more of an online terminal. ”
