Portables Plus to support IT Link

Portables Plus has been appointed as the sole distributor in the Auckland region for Christchurch-based software developer IT Link.

The mobile computing specialist is already a reseller of IT Link’s SalesLink Mobile sales automation application, but will now be responsible for implementing and supporting the product in Auckland.

This work was previously done by IT Link itself through a small two-person branch in the city, which has now been integrated into Portables Plus.

David Barley, IT Link’s commercial director says Portables Plus will be able to address more opportunities for the product in the Auckland market than IT Link could.

“There is now no need to have our own office in Auckland. Portables Plus has up to six reps focused on the product, so we have more feet on the ground,” says Barley.

The deal between the two companies, which kicks off this month, shows the SalesLink Mobile application is entering the mainstream market, says Barley.

“Up to last year most of our customers were early adopters, and as more people saw it, it has become more mainstream,” he says.

With Portables Plus taking care of the Auckland market, where half of IT Link’s New Zealand customers are based, the company can keep its development in Christchurch and focus on growing its business in other parts of the country and Australia, in particular.

The company is looking for organisations similar to Portables Plus to represent it across the Tasman, says Barley.

Calum Haslop, managing director of Portables Plus, says the IT Link software allows it to offer its customer more mobility tools, as it moves further into the mobile solutions space.

“Organisations are increasingly looking to deliver productivity tools to the person, rather than the desk, and SalesLink Mobile is a fantastic enabler of this, which has a natural fit with the rest of our offer,” he says.

IT Link first launched SalesLink Mobile in 1999 and it is now used by over 250 companies in New Zealand and Australia.
