With Cogent’s strategic acquisition of GDC’s voice division the company has effectively dealt with its key competitor in the Auckland market.
Stephan Goodburn, Cogent general manager, says when the opportunity arose to purchase the rival his company jumped.
“While the numbers weren’t huge there isn’t one person in the market that doesn’t see this as a positive move. Of course our competitors are concerned as it has given Cogent the widest range of products and services,” he says.
According to Goodburn his company is now five times the size of its competitors.
Former GDC staff started with Cogent on Monday, less than a week after the acquisition was announced.
“When we say we’re going to do something we do it and we do it fast,” says Goodburn.
Without giving too much away Goodburn admits Cogent has major plans for the rest of the year and says to expect further acquisitions over the next three years.
