A new set of products aimed at small to midsize businesses, launched this week, is said to be a boon for BMC Software’s channel.
Carlos Hidalgo, the management software vendor’s US-based global manager for small and medium business, has been in the country this week to introduce the new range to channel partners and customers.
The new IT Systems Management Express suite brings systems, service and identity management offerings within reach of smaller organisations, says Hidalgo.
This is good news for the company’s channel partners, especially in countries like New Zealand, where SMBs make up a significant portion of the market, he says.
“It gives partners the ability to bring a broader solution set to their customer base and to increase their service offering,” says Hidalgo.
The suite will also bring different partners into BMC’s orbit, as it aims to target new vertical markets with the range.
Bryan Hall of BMC’s biggest New Zealand and Australian partner, Planwell, says the suite allows SMBs to deploy infrastructure management without the risk of integration.
“The biggest risk projects face is integration with other systems. This suite integrates out of the box, and makes a low-risk but very effective option for organisations,” he says.
“It creates opportunities for us to develop new business because of this low-risk approach. We see that as a competitive edge.”
Small and medium enterprises face similar change management and performance management issues as larger organisations, but previous offerings for this market have been priced out of reach of smaller organisations, Hall says.
“That is why they shied away from it. Now we see a product designed and targeted at price point that those organisations can afford,” he says.
BMC's IT Systems Management Express suite brings together systems management, service management and identity management through the integration of its BMC Performance Manager Express, BMC Identity Management for .Net and BMC Service Desk Express products.
On March 21, BMC will also launch a new version of the Service Desk Express suite, and a small business edition of its Help Desk offering, says Hidalgo.
