Aussie storage conference seeks bigger numbers

Storage Networking World 2006, the annual education forum for the storage networking community, is hoping to attract more New Zealanders to this year’s forum.

Rob Stirling, executive director of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), says the forum has been improved this year with a larger emphasis on the end-user.

According to Stirling, the forum is already up 100% on vendors and he expects the amount of users to grow accordingly. He estimates there will be between 240 and 400 delegates.

He is also hoping to attract a larger New Zealand contingent to the conference.

“We are currently working with IDC in New Zealand to promote the event, and we have decided to pay the entry fee of A$695 for 50 of the New Zealand credited users.”

Stirling says this year’s conference has attracted more delegates and speakers, and the format has changed.

“Vendors, unless technology specific, will not be allowed to give papers at the conference,” he says.

The conference will feature a range of speakers and initiatives including storage awards, technology seminars and SNIA tutorials.
