Lan1 and Gen-i have joined forces to take Barracuda’s spam firewall to the country’s medium-sized enterprises.
As part of a three-month-long deal built around Barracuda’s Firewall 300 box, Gen-i has bundled what is usually an annual subscription licence into a three-year deal for customers.
Niall King, Barracuda’s vice president Asia-Pacific sales, says since launching the spam product last year over 30,000 customers around the world have purchased it.
“The 300 model now represents 50% of our shipments and it’s perfectly suited to the medium enterprise market,” he says.
According to King, over 60 local customers have purchased the product, including Stagecoach NZ, Port of Tauranga and TV3.
Meanwhile, Mark Micklefield, Lan1 sales manager, says mid-market is where the volume is and the 300 is ideally priced for that sector.
“The whole idea is to use Gen-i’s nationwide network. We have a number of good reference stories around the 300 so now is the prime time to launch this campaign.”
Micklefield hopes to have doubled the install base of the 300 model by at least another 50–60 customers by the end of the campaign. Matthew Rice, Gen-i’s SME manager for procurement, says his company is a natural choice for such a campaign.
