Argent expands by buying Aussie firm

Telecommunications software developer and integration specialist Argent Networks has extended its international reach with the purchase of Australian outfit Integration Management (IM).

Although Argent already has clients in the Australasian market the acquisition of IM gives the company an immediate footprint into other global markets.

Chris Jones, Argent CEO, says the deal means his company can continue to grow in key global telecommunications markets, in particular Asia-Pacific and the US.

Jones says IM’s products are complementary to Argent’s billing and CRM solutions.

“The acquisition was an ideal fit for us. I’m sure it will assist in growing Argent’s overall financial and global market position as a leading supplier of operational support systems and billing solutions to telco suppliers everywhere,” he says.

In 2004 Argent scored $8 million in venture capital funding to expand its operations in the Middle East and Africa and has been involved in deployments in the post-war reconstructions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Jones says Argent is growing rapidly in all its markets and is looking to make further acquisitions to accelerate penetration into other segments.
