Sentinel security through Novell

Sentinel security through Novell

Novell has expanded into compliance monitoring and reporting through the acquisition of E-Security and its flagship Sentinel 5 product.

Matthew Christie, Novell director of operations Asia Pacific, says the move broadens Novell’s portfolio and allows it to deliver a single view of security and compliance.

As yet there are no New Zealand customers using Sentinel 5 but Christie says there is definite demand within the corporate and government market. Novell has existing partners in China and Taiwan dealing with Sentinel 5’s established customer base.

“Because this is a new product in the ANZ region Novell is working jointly with customers and partners,” says Christie.

Partners are especially crucial, he says, because of the high level of integration involved.

“It’s very exciting to have the right product at the right time — especially as compliance is becoming more and more relevant to New Zealand businesses.”

In particular Christie says the health sector is undergoing huge compliance changes along with financial institutions and government agencies.
