Blade demos up for grabs

HP is trying to continue its growth in the blade server category by giving demonstration systems to 20 of its top resellers.

Marketing manager Jeff Healey says there is a tier of businesses which installs systems above entry level and needs greater assistance from HP and its partners. As a result, he says resellers have been asking for more educational tools.

“We’ve invested a lot more beyond the box and into solutions, and our business partners have signalled they need more information for these markets.”

HP is funding hardware, software and scriptwriting, along with technical and sales training. Twelve resellers will initially get the system, rising to 20 by the end of May.

Exeed sales manager Justin Tye is expecting to receive the demonstration system and says many customers want to consolidate their server farms or begin similar projects.

“The requests are already coming to us to be able to have a look at these systems and that will allow us to put one on site and let them have a play.”

Tye says Exeed’s blade server sales have gone from “not much 12 months ago to quite regular deals”.
