Cisco subsidiary Linksys says about 30 New Zealand value added resellers (VARs) have signed up to become accredited under its Partner Connection Programme. The programme was modified for local partners after they gave input to recently hired territory account manager Mark Williams.
"We soft launched it over the last two weeks in Australia and it was received quite well. We took feedback from partners in Australia and in New Zealand to localise it off our global programme," says Linksys ANZ regional manager Graeme Reardon.
He says although it has only officially partnered here with Ingram Micro, it has had contact with a number of Ingram Micro's customers. Reardon says Williams, a former Ingram Micro product manager, has gained feedback from his industry contacts since he was appointed two months ago.
Linksys launched into the retail space through agreements with Dick Smith Electronics and Harvey Norman, and says the partner connection programme will help it make inroads into SMBs and the home office.
Partners have to join the programme to sell its VoIP product range, of which its most recent additions are an IP PBX system to automate voicemail networks and IP desktop phones.
At retail, it has been selling Skype-enabled telephony kits.
Accredited New Zealand partners get a 5% discount when buying through Ingram Micro. The programme also includes a demo pricing programme and promotions for resellers.
